Funny how it's already past noon, but then again, I've translated 1500 words of PowerPoint text (from a pathological source file) and a short, 200-word document received this morning. And I figure that, since it's December, it would probably be a good idea to be particularly timely in the submittal of invoices, so I'm basically up to date.

The company that I did The Big Edit™ for back in August and September finally came through with a second chunk of payment, calling it "in full," but actually about $825 short of that concept. I asked Galina to have the bank make sure the check has sufficient covering funds before putting it into the system (the person I spoke with after the first check bounced said this was possible), but she's off to Durango to do shopping, and in any event, the check has been deposited.

My OneNote system for keeping track of assignments and invoices seems to be holding up, although I've noted that it's still somewhat of a pain to process work when it comes in (e.g., download it into a proper directory, unzip if required, note the file names and what they're for (source, reference, work authorization), and then do a source word count on each source file), but that's likely me complaining about having bumped up against a natural limit of the system.

In terms of invoicing, I've introduced tweaks to make sure I don't miss invoicing files (which I did for one client this morning after having looked a file name squarely in the delimiting point and leaving it off my invoice).

OneNote is getting competition from Evernote, which I used to use quite a while ago (back during version 2.x), and which is gathering quite a following now (at version 3.5, which is apparently ubiquitously available on Windows, Mac (iPhone and iPad), and Android, among other platforms). I finally managed to export/import my old notes, and am flabbergasted at their frequent vacuity. Still, there are gems among them.

This might be a good time to take a nap.

Cheers...
