We got on the road rather late yesterday, but still managed to put 550 miles under our wheels before stopping at some horrid little hole-in-the-wall motel a dozen miles short of where Kansas 155 intersects Interstate 70 near Salina.
Forecasts of rough weather along our route motivated us to get on the road fairly early and press eastward to get as far in front of the nasty stuff as possible. Right now, Galina's got The Weather Channel on, and although we are ahead of the line of tornado warnings that stretch roughly from Chicago southwest toward Kansas City, the weather will have all night to catch up with us.
Of the almost exactly 2000 miles the Garmin tells us is between Pagosa and New York, we have about 750 miles left to cover tomorrow. Gas prices started from our local high in Pagosa ($3.70 per gallon) and then leveled off at around $3.50 for most of the road so far, up until we hit Indiana, where all of a sudden, the prices are up around $3.80 or so. I can't wait to see where the prices go as we approach the East Coast.
Cheers...
