May snow!?
May. 1st, 2011 07:04 pmI was quite surprised to not only see it snow today in our neck of the woods, but to snow enough to accumulate, and enough to remain on the ground as of this post. Drew agreed with my view that we've never seen it snow here this late in spring (in May), although there may have been a year or two where there was some leftover winter snow lying on the ground.
The work that came in on Friday was completed today and sent shortly after noon. Another batch of work came in today, which is unusual, but when one considers how the deadlines in the project I'm working on tend to bunch up at—for example, at the end of the month—perhaps it's not that strange.
I even managed to fit a short nap into the afternoon before Drew came by to take me to his place for dinner. Dinner was well-spent, and after dinner, Drew got me to recite The Shooting of Dan McGrew—mostly for Hunt&uunl;r's benefit—which came off splendidly. I also recited the first few lines of The Cremation of Sam McGee, but then I left Huntür with a web page open to the poem, and encouraged her to read it on her own, using the rhythm of the language as an aid.
Natalie called to ask how best to approach the study of a subject that was less-than-thrilling. She is not the first person to ask me that question. My answer was, basically, "Make a game of it." Perhaps the theme is worth expanding, I don't know. I can likely provide enough personal anecdotes to entertain—or bore—nearly anyone to tears.
Some while stuff was coming down while Drew drove me home. With any luck, it will warm up overnight (I haven't had the heat on, and let me tell you, it's pretty cold both outdoors and indoors). I just don't want to see any more snow for a while.
Cheers...
