I kept my morning browsing to a minimum to keep from accidentally running across any spoilers for last night's Castle season finale, but managed to catch a glimpse of one, about someone among the cast getting killed (no name specified, however). So this morning, as I took care of business, I downloaded the episode and then took the opportunity to watch it during my post-lunch rest period.

I have to say, I was at no time tempted to stop watching, and although there were a lot of of good moments in the drama, and although the show can expect me to be loyally waiting for a resolution of the finale's, um, issues, there was still some things about the story line that bothered me. Which, dutifully, I shall not go into right now as there may be other, similarly bereft-of-finale Castle fans out there who might not appreciate a blow-by-blow analysis that includes a bunch of spoilers.

I've concluded I've been sick the past couple of days, which neatly explains the fatigue and the cough. I spent probably more time than was necessary watching Netflix.

Among the items I remember watching was a Sherlock Holmes movie (not the SH movie with Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law) that only kept me watching because... because... because of a combination of me being sick and it attempting to be a Holmes tale.

Then last night, as I shut off my computer for the night, my eye ran across the framed autograph of Mickey Spillane that sits to the right of me, just below eye level. And the urge developed to watch one of those 50's potboilers in which Spillane actually played his detective character of Mike Hammer. I couldn't find one on Netflix, but YouTube, of all sources, provided me with a look at The Girl Hunters, which scratched the itch.

Maybe I'm just not hitting the right links, but I can't seem to get to all the cool video that's supposedly available for free through Amazon if you've got a Prime account (as I do). The prices for rentals seem better than what iTunes offers, though, that's for sure. Neither outperforms Redbox in terms of price, but then the latter is relatively limited in the scope of offerings.

And while I'm on this video jag, I might mention that I was gratified to see the recent BBC revival of Sherlock Holmes available on Netflix, and have watched them all again.

Today, I managed to translate 3,500 source words for one project, due Thursday, and another 1,100 target words for something that came in over-the-transom mid-morning.

I'm tired, but not exhausted, so I guess I must be getting better.

Cheers...
