Almost a workday...
Jun. 17th, 2011 11:23 pmThe job I accepted yesterday turned out to be a bit more than I expected, massing at around 15,500 words, about half of which represents editing of pretranslated segments, with the rest being new work. Today, I managed to whittle the lot down to about 7,200 words (of which about 3,900 words represent new work), yanking the stress associated with the work load out of the stratosphere and back into the realm of achievability by the stated deadline.
So around two-ish, I decide to take a break and take one last run through an ARC session. Galina came along and since it was raining, we agreed we'd meet over by the Opéra, near the Galeries Lafayette, once I was through with my session.
The session was the best one so far, even if I made tons of silly grammatical mistakes (due mostly to gender agreement between noun and adjective). At 5:30, Galina popped back in and waved at me, and as some newly arriving participants were finding it difficult to join the groups arranged around the tables, I gave up my spot and took off with Galina back home, after walking up to the Seine.
Dinner was at a Greek restaurant displaying Al-Jazeera broadcasts on the two large-screen televisions mounted in the front and back of the dining area. The food was good and reasonably priced, for Paris.
Upon returning to our lodgings, I worked for another couple of hours and called it a day. I expect tomorrow will not be as intense, work-wise, as today, but I will probably still spend a few hours at the keyboard, being industrious.
Cheers...
