Clearing the decks...
Oct. 24th, 2011 05:31 pmI just sent off about 6,800 words, which clears the decks (something came in, but it goes back next Monday), leaving me free to work on my ATA presentation.
This morning was a comedy of sorts, because the Internet did not work at the house, and I very truly needed to put a 15-MB file into my box.net account. Trying to do so via my DROID's WiFi hotspot app would repeatedly get me 60% or more of the way home, but then something would happen—it's not clear where the problem lies—and I'd have to start over from scratch. I finally decided to head on down to the local McDonald's for a bite to eat and their free WiFi, but by the time I figured out which of the 20 or so wireless networks accessible from their dining room was theirs and didn't work, time was growing short (I had a delivery due in the morning).
So I hopped back to the public library and the file was sent without further ado.
Besides that adventure came mini-sagas associated with calls and letters to the local property owner's association, the electric company, and the cable company.
But all that is behind me, now. I can concentrate on my presentation.
After dinner.
Cheers...
