Pounding on the cable, again...
Oct. 30th, 2011 08:56 pmI got a good night's sleep and unpacked my stuff from the conference.
In general, I attended a lot more sessions that had me going "Wow, I didn't know that!" than those where I would start to mentally argue with the presenter. I have some leads for new work. I managed to buy only one book (and that, only on the strength of the fact that the author was a presenter whose command of his subject impressed me last year in Denver) and limit my exhibitor "swag" to almost nothing.
I also ran across—and took home with me—a book left by a BookCrossing.com participant (a site I also belong to, but the existence of which hadn't crossed my mind in months, until I found the book). It's some kind of detective novel.
It was remarkably cold outside today, which limited my walking effort. Along the way, however, I ran across a strange little patch of ground with several kinds of mushrooms that are completely new to me (that is to say, "that I've only seen illustrated in books"). With any luck, despite the cold, there'll be some developments overnight, and I'll be sure to take some photos tomorrow.
Cheers...
