I hadn't noticed this before, but the "eBay–PayPal complex" has apparently added a new wrinkle to the way it interacts with sellers, or at least with me (and I've been an on-and-off eBayer for almost 13 years!).

To wit, if someone pays you with PayPal for something bought on eBay, the deal now is that you (the seller) won't actually get access to the money until at least 3 days after the buyer receives your package. Thus, the "estimated" date on which I'll be able to access the funds is currently December 11. That said, PayPal has already taken its 3.2% cut of the transaction.

I sent off the auctioned item via UPS this morning, and less said of my interaction with UPS, the better for my blood pressure. I'll simply cite one priceless quote during my conversation with tech support, about why the UPS web site wouldn't let me proceed past a certain point unless I modified information that could not be edited: "Yes, we've been aware of that problem on our web site."

Work came in, but it turned out to be the same documents that were sent late last week, so the job was canceled. Then we had to get the house ready for a showing at 11:30. Then another agent called to ask about a showing at 11:45.

So Galina and I quit the house by the appointed hour, headed down toward Hicksville and the Whole Foods Market there (among other places), I having blissfully forgotten that I had to be at the house "between noon and 3 pm" for the technician to show up and fix the oil burner that, in the end, provided heat to the house.

While at WFM, I learned that the spectrum ingredients for basic gluten-free bread is fairly intimidating—as is their cost—and when I couldn't make the ingredient quantities jive with the available packages (the recipe I have calls for 3 cups of tapioca flour, but WFM only carries small boxes of the stuff, at around $2.50 per box), we withdrew, mindful of the imminent visit of the oil tech and needing to run by our bank on the way home.

We eventually got home after noon, before the oil tech arrived, and were called by the second agent, who said the woman who had looked at the house at 11:45 wanted to come by again with her significant other at 3:30 pm. No problem.

Meanwhile, I get online and check out bread ingredients on Amazon, where prices and quantities seem to make more sense, but then the phone rings. The oil tech is on his way.

The oil tech arrives around 2:40 pm and gets to work. As 3:30 approaches, Galina takes off to do more business with the bank, taking Shiloh along with her. I stick around until the tech leaves, set the house up for the showing, and then make myself scarce as well.

And so on, etc. I haven't done any exercise, per se, today, but I've hit just about all my numbers, per the fitbit device. And I feel it, too.

Cheers...
