In Pagosa, but not home...
Mar. 16th, 2012 07:02 amThe house is rented to the end of April, and the condo Galina has her eye on doesn't come available until tomorrow, and since Drew and Shannon have enough on their hands without us and the animals to deal with, we decided to spend the night at a Pagosa hotel, which is a first for us since our first visit in 1992.
The room is at the east end of town, at the side of the establishment closest to the road (which isn't as bad as it sounds, at least not until 5:30 am, which is when one of the truckers decided to go start up his rig, and woke me up in doing so). Traffic on 160 pretty much tapers off to nothing after around 11 pm.
Galina set out ahead of me, yesterday, while I sat and worked on part of an avalanche of translations that hit the inbox. I eventually caught up with her at the travel stop at exit 76 on I-70, whereupon I broke out the Garmin GPS unit for the rest of the trip home.
As I expected, the selected route took us over open-country highways, eventually bringing us to Walsenburg (as opposed to the way Google Maps figured things; its default suggestion involved going through Pueblo and then down I-25 to Walsenburg).
At Walsenburg, we picked up Highway 160, which eventually brought us to Pagosa. In the end , it was a very stressful day, probably due more to accumulated fatigue and trying to work on the road than mileaga, since we actually covered fewer miles yesterday than we did during either of the previous two days.
I have not been doing a good job at all in keeping up with the clerical aspect of incoming and outgoiing work, or with the receipts associated with this trip. I shall do my best, but it may very well be that I won't be able to properly address these issues until after we settle down and get the cars unpacked.
Cheers...
