Venturing slowly into the week...
Mar. 19th, 2012 07:51 pmSummary
Another nearly 6,000 words went out the pipe today, clearing the plate (except for the part where I invoice work done recently). The hardest part about getting this past weekend's work done has been connectivity (more precisely, the lack of it).
The condo we're renting has none, nor does the one we'll be renting until our tenants move out, so my alternatives basically boil down to cable (ugh!), the phone company (ugh!), the folks who provided service up until last November (good outfit, but it costs $80 to move equipment after it's been installed, which in itself costs $150), or finding a neighbor who won't mind sharing an existing link in exchange for due consideration.
On Friday, I got a text message from Verizon, informing me that I'd used up 50% of the 2-GB monthly allowance on my iPhone's 'Personal Hotspot', which sort of surprised me because I really hadn't done a lot of bandwidth-intensive things. Then today, after several days of brief connect—do-what-needed-doing—disconnect sessions, I got another text message, informing me that I had hit the 75% level.
Wow. Half a gigabyte of data in three days. Then again, my computer did install several OS updates when I shut it down this afternoon, which may help explain a chunk of that bandwidth. In any event, at that rate (half a gig per three days), I'm looking at using 5 GB over a 30-day period.
I shall have to monitor my usage over the next few days, before I run out of bandwidth and before my monthly billing cycle renews.
Cheers...
