Done, for now...
Mar. 29th, 2012 05:40 pmIt took me about an hour to get the first half of the document formatted to match my half, and then came the fun stuff... making sure the other translator and I had called the same things by the same name.
I was aided by the fact that my section of the document had only a small part in common with the first part, and so I concentrated on the basic terms first. Unfortunately, I then ran across two different terms, used quite often throughout the text, that the other translator essentially had rendered using the same English term.
That meant going through the text to see where his term had been used, and then finding the corresponding place in the non-searchable Russian PDF.
At any rate, I had warned my client yesterday that I might be an hour or two late on the deadline (which was favorably acknowledged), and up until I found that last item, I felt pretty good about making my original delivery time. But by the time I had sorted everything out, I had used almost an hour of the two that I had been granted by the client. Ah, well...
Then I turned to on the piece I am doing for Feht, cleaned out all the comments and revisions, and "cleaned up" the segmented file so that it was an ordinary Word file again.
Meanwhile, I have yet to take a good, close look at two jobs that came in this morning.
Seriously, there are days when work is all that happens!
Cheers...
