I've spent the week helping my best client track incoming and outgoing work and it's been a real "walk a mile in someone else's moccasins" experience. It also gave me a number of ideas for how the work flow can be improved. The trick is going to be selling the person who normally does it on the idea.

Getting other people to buy into my ideas has always been a shortcoming of mine, and I'm sure that the root cause of that is also the reason I have never been able to lead anything but small groups of very motivated, like-minded individuals, and that very formulation may underscore the opening clause to this paragraph.

When Galina got back this afternoon after driving around looking for some items we need in the house, I could not wait to pack all the Comcast stuff into a bag and get down to the local office (near the intersection of I-45 and NASA Parkway) and cancel the account. Now that I think of it, I believe I will make one last call to Comcast on Monday to make sure the account has really been terminated (there's no penalty for doing that during the first 30 days, which becomes $200 after the grace period is up).

Then we drove around aimlessly for a while, which was probably not the best thing to do, as we ended up caught by the Friday get-the-heck-home traffic, which seems to start a bit earlier than usual. We ended up seeking shelter in the local public library, where a bill Galina had in her purse was good enough to convince TPTB to issue us borrower's cards.

I need to complete a fairly heavy push on the long-term work this weekend, along with some new stuff that came in near the end of the day today.

Work. Work. Work.

It's what's for dinner.
