Election consolations...
Nov. 6th, 2012 10:38 pmHad something to say yesterday, but got sidetracked.
Had a load of catchup to do today, which has kept me busy (except for breaks to eat and do tai chi).
Whether you were disappointed by tonght's results or elated, keep in mind that the one and only principal difference between the parties and the candidates fielded by them has been (and will continue to be) media coverage. With a Republican be President, the media would make sure that every blunder, every scandal, and every slightest misstep made the headlines. With a Democrat in the White House, stuff that would get a Republican impeached will be routinely ignored or worse, given a positive spin.
Same stuff, just different treatment.
In the end, there is not a dime's worth of difference between the parties, and given our present course, don't expend the trends of the last four years—and the positive spin they've received in the press—to be any different from those of the next four.
As I have since the Reagan years, I voted for the Libertarian candidate. It's the principle of the thing.
Cheers...
