Over the past couple of weeks, I've had several episodes of waking up in the middle of the night (around 3:30 am) and then being unable to fall back asleep. Last night was just such a night.

Normally, I will bullheadedly just stay horizontal and attempt to will myself to sleep, because the tactic quite often works. This morning, given the pile of stuff that I had to get off my plate—and who knows? maybe the cause of my inability to drift back into the arms of Morpheus—I gave up the effort at around 4:30 am and started working.

I got a lot done, too.

There's still too much left on the plate (mostly because of more stuff getting added, but I digress...).

Galina and I basically took the second half of the day off, and we did some shopping.

I've taken to recording the NCIS shows (the original and the Los Angeles spinoff) because of the conflict with my t'ai chi class. Then, upon my returning home, Galina and I typically watch one or both of the shows.

Last night's NCIS was very well done, underscoring the bonds of kinship forged in battle and granted by blood. If I may be permitted a minor spoiler, I thought the ending—in which Tony uses the office's surround-sound system to play a recording, for Ziva, of O mio babbino caro from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi—was one of those rare, hold-your-breath moments made even more compelling by the expressive look Ziva gives Tony as he hands her the volume control and then leaves her with her thoughts.

It seems to me the series just keeps getting better with time.

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Cheers...
