The time is out of joint...
Nov. 24th, 2012 09:34 pmA peek out the window this morning revealed that the folks across the way had finally put their Halloween stuff out on the curb for garbage pickup. I was somewhat relieved, as I was beginning to get the feeling the decorations were going to be impressed to perform additional duty during the upcoming "Holiday Season." (How? I have no idea. It was, after all, just a feeling.)
Holiday—and more specifically, Christmas—stuff has been quietly coming to the fore in stores for weeks, and of course the whole season is now throttles-to-the-firewall until The Big Day™.
(Remember when Friday-after-Thanksgiving sales were kept super-secret—most people had no idea what "Black Friday" meant—and some folks actually got sued for prematurely disclosing "proprietary" information about what was going to be on sale and for how much? Heck, around these parts, I think the Black Friday hype started somewhere soon after the first of the month.)
* * * I got a pretty good start to the day, and by about noon, I'd completed about 2/3 of what I had intended to get accomplished for the day (3500 source words translated). Then Galina suggested we go for a spin, and in the end, we got home about 4 hours later, laden with plants for the back yard. I did get to walk around Fry's, so the afternoon wasn't a complete waste. :^)
In the end, I did manage to complete 4000 source words of translation, which is gratifying. If I do that again tomorrow, I will be one happy camper.
Cheers...
