Some part of my consciousness must have deep-down known that the 5,000 words due tomorrow morning could all be done today, which allowed me to devote some time to building the sous vide controller. As it turns out, I completed that document and then went on to do another small chunk of the long-term work.

I spent a lot of time with my eyes closed, too. Maybe it was not getting enough sleep last night, but I napped for an hour after lunch, and it took me some time to get my carcass back to the computer screen (although that may be understandable, as I had less than 2,000 words left to do when I quit for lunch).

I'm noticing that the BambooInvoice application does not have all of the bells and whistles of the Intuit Invoice Manager, but also realizing—although this was no great epiphany—that I won't miss any of those selfsame bells and whistles. There was a time, for example, when I used to track what percentage of my work came from translation, what percentage from interpretation, and so on, but that information didn't help me a whit when I did track it, and as I don't do that now—except maybe once a year, to see if anything surprising pops out of the data (and it hasn't in previous years)—I certainly won't miss it.

It's not too late to shut down the hardware and see what Galina is doing downstairs.

Cheers...
