Last night, as I was being formally introduced to the last few movements of Yang-style t'ai chi in 37 postures (a.k.a, the "short form"), my mind flashed back to my first lesson, and sifu's instruction to "follow along as best you can." At the time, it seemed quite a challenge just to end up facing in the same direction as the rest of the class from time to time, much less mimic any of the actual movements.

Over the past 14 weeks, however, I've been gradually introduced to the postures—and even had a couple of sessions devoted to "tightening up" some of the postures I've been introduced to—and I am coming to the happy realization that despite whatever I may have learned over this time, there would appear to be an ever greater scope of things to understand. The fact that time is a major factor in the acquisition of that understanding is something that will be healthy for me to learn to live with, I think.

In more mundane matters, allowing Adobe to update software on my work machine this morning was a mistake, because (a) after doing so, Acrobat would not start for love or money (until I rebooted my system), and (b) whatever interaction that goes on when I click on a PDF in Opera may or may not actually occur, depending on factors best known to the Great Bit Bucket.

Cheers...
