Taking advantage of "down" time...
Feb. 22nd, 2013 09:04 pmThere's work on the plate, but realistically, it's not due until Monday, so Galina and I declared today to be a holiday, of sorts, and took it easy.
Like surfers eternally in search of "the perfect wave," on Fridays and Saturdays Galina and I morph into garage/estate sale browsers. We haven't gotten to the point where we try to optimize a "traveling salesman" route among some number of previously found sales (and I hope we never do); we just keep an eye out for signs.
We stopped at an estate sale, where Galina found out that the folks who are doing this for the estate take a 40% cut of sales, which explained the rather impressive prices for the various items—many quite nice—that were on sale. (Later, on our way to pick up groceries, we spied one of those young (typically) men whose job it is at major intersections around town to wave an advertisting sign and as it turned out, he was advertising precisely that very same estate sale! This suggests that the 40% cut is not entirely gravy, but I digress...).
The rest of the day felt like Saturday, which is okay, because Sunday will likely feel like a work day.
Cheers...
