Remind me...
Mar. 19th, 2013 06:53 pmGalina hauled my carcass out of the house for lunch, and we ended up at a place on NASA Parkway that, according to FourSquare gossip, was the recipient of a visit from the folks at Restaurant: Impossible. Whatever benefit there may have been gained from the visit appears to have worn off.
The place was not particularly packed when we sat down. There were customers at three other tables, and one of the tables was obviously in the throes of a good post-breakfast coffee-klatch. We ordered a burger and a cup of onion soup for me and a bowl of soup for Galina.
The food arrived at our table almost exactly a half hour later. The burger was okay. Galina's soup—represented as gumbo—was basically a slurry that the cook had attempted to thicken with flour, and whose only identifiable component was rice. My onion soup was so salty that I could not eat more than a couple of mouthfuls.
(I need to remind myself to refrain from ordering soup in restaurants, as what is served is typically extremely salty, at least from the perspective of someone like me, who does not use more than a dash of salt here and there when cooking and almost never takes a salt shaker in hand during a meal.)
