Yet another repair...
Mar. 31st, 2013 04:57 pmA strange situation occurred a few days ago while using Word. The application window closed upon exit, but the actual application remained in memory. The files that were open when I exited were not released, nor could I open another session of the application. Natalie just happened to call at around that time, and she shared her suspicion that this was some kind of memory leak problem (so called because applications can't or won't return allocated memory to the system, gradually reducing the pool of memory available overall).
As I am not unfamiliar with crazy things happening once in a while—especially when using Windows—I thought no more about the problem (which was solved by rebooting my machine)... until yesterday, when it occurred again, except this time I could start up another session, which never actually finished starting up, so I shut down the computer and went downstairs and watched Red Light with Galina on Netflix.
Nevertheless, I got through about half the big job due Monday, and finished it off a little while ago. I think I still have enough energy left to address one of the flood of jobs that came in Friday.
I expect the upcoming week to be pretty active. Besides the translation work, I've got to find the time to apply for a visa for potential work in Kazakhstan, which is always a little hectic.
