Mental calisthenics...
Jun. 19th, 2013 03:22 pmOne aspect of campaigning in Baikonur that is more acute this time around is keeping track of the time in multiple time zones.
The main item—what time is it at home?—is only a little more complicated than when we used to live in Colorado, as the difference is 11 hours instead of 12. If it's 15:22 here now, it's 4:22 in Houston. Then there's East Coast time that rears its head, from time to time. And West Coast time. And Moscow time, too.
I arrived with the "early team" last Thursday. The primary job of the team was to see to satellite arrival and "unboxing" and setting things up for the next few weeks of work. The "main team" arrives today, and I'm on the hook to interpret at the safety and health briefing, should my services be required.
It's been fairly cool the past few days, and downright cold in the mornings. This afternoon, however, it's 35°C outside (95°F, for those more accustomed to that scale), with the humidity holding at 15%.
Gotta go do some stuff...
