I had been feeling a little grumpy about yesterday's outing, as it had diverted me from other pursuits better pursued at the hotel area. However, when I woke up this morning, almost the first thing to pop into my head was, "Hey! I did a pretty good job!"

Normally, this kind of reaction is not something to crow about, but after my most recent outing—that coordination meeting of a few days ago—I have to admit my confidence had suffered a blow.

But yesterday's museum trip has restored a bit of balance to my outlook.

Cheers...

I should probably take comfort that, in a way, I am.

During yesterday's museum visit, the lady from the Khrunichev security office who accompanied our little group pointed out a poster-sized photo mounted on the wall behind a model of the Proton-M launch vehicle, which is the vehicle used to launch our campaign satellites:

Looking just a bit more closely at that photo, in the lower right-hand corner:

Is yours truly, wearing the "Indiana Jones" hat that I wore on these campaigns up to about 2006 2007, which narrows down the possibilities, but I truly don't recall what campaign the photo commemorates.

Cheers...

UPDATE: Another campaigner in the photo, [livejournal.com profile] kirik, says it was taken during the April 2007 "verticalization" of the launch vehicle that took the Anik F3 satellite into orbit.

Apropos of Proton launches, the vehicle that was rolled out a few days ago, carrying a Russian GLONASS navigation satellite, is scheduled to lift off tomorrow from a pad just a few kilometers away at 8:34 tomorrow morning. We're all planning to be out of our hotel rooms and at "the office" a few clicks down the road by 6:30 am. I'm looking forward to seeing a Proton launch!
