Good progress...
Nov. 23rd, 2013 09:30 pmI'm surprising myself with the scope of the handy little jobs I've been undertaking. I saved a chunk of change by replacing the battery in a non-functioning UPS rather than buy a new unit. In other news, the office looks much better.
What I'm not really enjoying is the floodlight the neighbor across the street has installed to what? ...illuminate his empty driveway? For sure, there's a bunch of light that crosses the street and illuminates the front of our house, not to mention any room not thoroughly curtained for blackout conditions.
After comparing the features of BitTorrent Sync and OwnCloud, I've concluded that my immediate needs are met better by the latter than the former (although the former has its uses as well). One thing I learned as a result of my experimentation on Thursday is to never "back up" too many operations when working with OC. I did (by attempting to move a subdirectory while uploading new files), and for whatever reason, ended up with a locked database that I could not fix, so I reinstalled OC one more time, but decided to use MySQL instead of SQLite. Let's see how that works out.
Cheers...
