Getting back to normal...
Mar. 4th, 2014 11:28 pmAlthough there are times when figuring out what "normal" is can be like nailing warm Jell-O to a tree. Still, I was able to maintain a feeling of forward motion throughout the day.
Work helped. Especially the part where, in order for my translation to reflect a bunch of text that had been deleted in revision mode, I translated the deleted text, turned on revision mode, and then deleted the text I had just translated, so that it would be displayed suitably.
Tai chi moves along, if slowly. Yesterday continued my baby-steps familiarization with the broadsword form, while today, sifu demonstrated a new drill that is, for me, physically challenging, and requires quite a bit of shoulder flexibility, among other qualities. In general, I am finding the going to not be particularly easy, with my age being a salient factor (in terms of habits and a decreased level of fitness that has become ingrained over time), or perhaps I'm simply making excuses. That said, there is nothing in particular to be said in favor of "easy" when it comes to mastering a new physical skill, and in any event, I know I am physically in better shape today than I was before I started taking lessons. Upward and onward, as they say...
Cheers...
