Slowness explained...
Apr. 11th, 2014 05:43 pmI never expected my WD My Cloud device to be any kind of speed demon, but file transfers have been painfully slow (355 KB/s, transferring a file from a local external hard drive to the network device).
As it turns out, the WD My Cloud is a Linux device, and there is a capability to SSH into it. Having done so, I immediately notice that the Samba demon is consuming 99.4% of the device's CPU time, which suggests the process would take even more time, if any were left to take.
Maybe this will help in my quest to speed this thing up a bit.
