Self-sufficiency?
May. 19th, 2014 08:54 pmI did get out, for a short time, this morning when I went to the gym with Galina, and then again in the evening for tai chi. The rest of the day was spent at the keyboard.
I've started making kombucha again. The first batch was helped along with some fresh stuff I'd been buying at the Saturday "farmer's market" over in Nassau Bay, except that mine is turning out to be not as sweet (mostly because I'm obviously not using as much sugar, and equally obviously, you'll hear no complaints from me in this regard).
I'm also about 10 days into an experiment to cause lemon grass (bought at the Hong Kong Market) to take root and multiply. While there is no result yet, at least the "seedlings" aren't drying up and blowing away. I seem to recall doing this some time ago, and eventually, the lemon grass took off.
I found all of the components (including seed) to start growing sprouts,and there's a batch of them growing as I type this. I happen to like sprouts—Galina can take 'em or (mostly) leave 'em—but I am not enamored of the high price one pays for them locally or having to drive a long way to get reasonably priced product.
