A slow day...
Nov. 22nd, 2014 10:22 pmWork. Sleep. Read. Then go back and do it again.
There are four invoices left to translate. Two are rather lengthy and have yet to be started, one is on the short side and about 80% complete, and OCR didn't do so well with the remaining item, so that'll have to be done by hand from scratch. Tomorrow.
I've read most of No Hero, and got quite a lot out of it, in the sense that I'm familiar with analogs of the kinds of things he describes, such as the whole after-action review (ARR) process. Of course, in my case, the principal difference is how often I've seen practice differ markedly from theory, as in the case of a brainstorming session, during which our boss—who insisted on participating—shot down almost every idea that was offered.
The weather folk predicted severe thunderstorms for our area throughout this coming night. I just heard the remote rumble of thunder, so they might well have gotten this one right.
And—right on time—I can hear the rain coming up, like the beginning measures to an opera overture.
Time to get ready for bed.
Cheers...
