The dearth of posts over the past few days was due principally to not having much to say, amplified by finding myself nowhere near a computer for a great part of the time.

Life seems to have settled down into a steady stream of visits to medical facilities for tests of various kinds, punctuated by consultations with doctors. The longest day so far was this past Wednesday, which required me (which effectively meant "Galina and me") to show up at 7 am and went on until very nearly 6 pm and the rush-hour home. As far as I can tell, my calendar for next week is clear, as I have no appointments, at least not yet.

This morning turned out to be another early day (I had to report at 7:40 am), but upon rising (at 5:15 am), I became quickly aware that the hot water line to the kitchen sink had worked its way loose (again, which is another story), resulting in water pooling on the floor in the kitchen and breakfast area.

My first step upon learning of the situation was to run outside and turn off the water to the house. (The first time this happened, I spent time turning water off at the street, which is no mean trick; this time, I simply turned off the valve next to the house.) I then raised the alarm with Galina, and we spent pretty much all of the time I had budgeted to get ready to leave for today's appointments mopping up what we could and wringing out the wet towels. I then managed to crawl under the sink and turn off the hot water supply valve so that water to the house could be turned back on.

As it turned out, we got out of the house about 30 minutes after our target departure time, which placed an on-time arrival for my appointments in doubt, but since I like to work on "Lombardy time" (i.e., I generally plan to arrive early for appointments), I'd only be a few minutes late to the facility.

Go figure, but the traffic gods smiled on us today. The usual crawl at the intersection of Highways 8 and 288 simply wasn't there, so we managed to get me to my appointment in good time.

My morning "program" is complete. I have a consultation this afternoon. Then it's home for the weekend. I look forward to it.

Cheers...
