The day started with a rare treat—biscuits and home-made gravy. It reminded me of some breakfasts from long ago.
There followed a trip to the PetSmart, for a bottle of dog urine discombobulator (seeing as the carpet and pad in my old office had been soaked through by the combined efforts of Thumper and whatever dog it was that Thumper was trying to mark over), and Home Depot, to ask questions about what I thought were "thresholds" but are actually called "transitions" (between, say, the thicker pile carpet in the second floor hallway and the stuff going into my office).
Upon returning home, I finished emptying the office and then vacuumed the floor to within an inch of its life. Then I hammered in every projecting nail and screw, some of which appear to have been that way when the original carpet was laid down (although it's not as if I'd ever felt any of them). After treating the floor with the urine destroyer and letting it dry, I started putting down the carpet, which comes in 2' x&mbsp;2' self-adhesive squares.
I pretty much got the easy part done by the time Galina and I were due to meet some friends at Rivera's, where we split a plate of fajitas. Upon returning home, it was time to cut the grass in the back yard.
This has been the first time in recent memory that my work computer has stayed off for the entire weekend. The translation that came in Friday will get done tomorrow morning. If nothing else comes in, I might take the time to finish laying carpet (which is going to involve a lot of cutting) and then start moving back into my office.
All of that while pursuing my 90-day goals.
Whew!
