A fair-to-middlin' bad hair day...
Jun. 24th, 2015 09:58 pmNot going to go much detail, except to say I've had better days, workwise.
I am perplexed as to how an earlier version of a file that I worked on today made its way into a zip file. The only scenario that makes sense is that I saved said earlier version, continued to work on the file, finished it, did not save it, copied the (old) file into the zip, and only then saved the file. Moreover, given that the time on both files is identical, the actions of copying the old file and saving the later file occurred within one minute.
There is a silver lining to all this, I guess, because I took the trouble to dig all the way to the bottom of this hole before sending off a rather feisty email to my editor, who wondered why I had sent him an unfinished file. Once I determined that the file I had sent was the wrong file, it was fairly simple to cut the old message text and replace it with something more suitable.
I seem to be having a lot of trouble lately with zip files. There have been a couple of times over the past weeks when zip files I could have sworn were complete (in terms of the files that should be in them) turned out not to be. In one case, a file was simply not there; in another, I packaged a source file instead of a translation file, which sort of amazed me because I would have had to go to some trouble to pull that latter trick.
The other silver lining (can there be two silver linings?) is that the boss disagrees with my assessment of this having been one of "those" days.
Cheers...

Having the two of you watching my back makes this a very good day.I truly work with some amazing people.
