My best client asked me to submit an invoice for June to date, despite the fact that there are still five days left in the month.

Who am I to argue? I sent the invoice.

If we declare today to be the end of the month, it turns out this has been the first good month for billings so far this year. (Hey, it's only June!) How we've managed to survive at casa PGP so far is some kind of miracle, provided one does not look at credit card balances.

Tai chi this evening underscored the idea that most striking attacks by an aggressor are met with a fairly uniform response (all other things being equal, which they rarely are). Sifu demonstrated feasible defenses against someone intent on delivering a jab, and we spent time observing sifu demonstrate feasible defenses against someone attempting a "chicken-wing" hold (which I initially thought was an arm-lock) and a choke hold. Sifu underscored that the ability to actually make use of such techniques depended on practice, which is something that dawned on me quite some time ago.

The major takeaway for the evening, however, occurred when sifu offered a correction to one of the senior students with regard to knee movement (or, actually, the lack thereof) when doing, for example, "brush knee." The explanation definitely clicked for me, as I have been having the devil's own time dealing with a knee problem ever since resuming my tai chi attendance.

Earlier in the day, I finally got around to following my oncologist's suggestion to "walk" in a fairly shallow swimming pool as a vehicle toward weight loss. I had tried this at our community's pool, but the depth in that pool varies from about 3-1/2 feet to about 5-1/2 feet, which makes the whole idea of "walking" from end to end sort of problematical once the water gets much above one's solar plexus. Today, I walked laps in a pool at a gym near I-45 and NASA One, where the depth never exceeds 4 feet over the 50 yard (?) span of the pool. I limited myself to 25 one-way trips today, which—if the pool really is 50 yards long—amounted to 1,250 yards of walking through a resisting medium. Another 10 round trips would amount to a mile, FWIW.

I am elbow deep in Seneca right now, and find that I disagree with him on a number of points. But that is, after all, the name of the game if you are interested in getting to the root of things.

Three assignments remain on the plate as of this evening. If nothing else arrives tomorrow, I should be able to deal with these tomorrow and over the weekend.

It's going to be a great weekend!
