One heck of a day...
Nov. 27th, 2015 06:18 pmThis morning, I declared today to be a day of fasting and translation. Fasting because... well, just because I haven't done that in a while and I can use the practice (and lose a little weight in the process—and no, I'm not on any kind of starvation gig); translation because... hey, it's what I do, daddy-o!
I had intended to get a fairly early start on work, but Life kept getting in the way, in the sort of techniclor-and-cinemascope manner than only Life can call forth. Further deponent saith not, other than I need to get my head straight, pronto.
That said, when I finally did get down to translation, I pleasantly surprised myself by knocking off 1700 words in a little over two hours. I've done an additional slug of work since, so while I'm not seeing any progress if I focus my attention on the amount of work I have left, progress is nevertheless being made. I can tell by the slow but steady stream of work being sent back to clients.
In between everything else, I made up for there being no taiji class yesterday by doing multiple repetitions of The Form out on the driveway (the only place, I've found, that I can do this exercise).
Shiloh and "Short Round" (my nickname for Thumper, or at least the one that can be said in mixed company) are nosing around my office. Apparently it is their dinner-time, and they sure as all get-out didn't sign onto any sort of "fasting" idea. So I guess I should go feed them and get back to work.
Cheers...
