Another exciting day...
Nov. 28th, 2015 09:44 pmThe weather took a definite turn for the colder end of the thermometer overnight, so when I let the dogs out and prepared to do some taiji on the driveway, I scotched the idea and went back inside.
The day was spent finishing somewhat over 2000 words for a job due Tuesday, an editing session (of about 2000 words), and another 1000 or so words of translation for The Latest Big Job™ (42,000 words, due entirely too soon).
I got a call in the middle of the day from the 516 area code in Nassau. The number was not familiar, and there was a hint of trepidation in my mind as I answered the call. It was Galina, calling from the Verizon store. She had dropped her old whatever-it-was Windows phone and needed to get another phone. We debated the idea of sending her one of the phones we have here, but I didn't think it was a good idea for Galina to be left without a way to call anyone, so after discussing things with the fellow at the Verizon store, Galina was set up with a refurbished Samsung S4.
Shortly ago, I guided Galina through the installation of TeamViewer QuickSupport, and once that was done, I was able to connect to her phone from my computer here in Seabrook. In other words, we began to cook with gas!
Speaking of cooking, I actually felt pretty good this morning when I got up (this, after fasting since breakfast yesterday). I did some snooping on the Internet and cautiously embarked on a second day of fasting, having consumed just a cup of "fatty" coffee this morning (coffee with a small pat of butter and some coconut oil).
Surprisingly, I've felt sated pretty much all day long.
Among the things that convince me I'm in no danger from this impromptu fast was the time, back in 2004, when a kidney stone sidelined me (and my appetite) for the better part of four days. Of course, that was over ten years ago, and I've taken some damage since then (so to speak), but I am not pushing myself, so I ought to be good.
I need a little "sharpen the saw" time to fine-tune just what I'm going to do tomorrow so that everyone I owe work to is satisfied come Monday and Tuesday.
Cheers...
