A sub-nominal day...
Dec. 30th, 2015 08:55 pmI didn't get as much translated as I had intended, although I did return three completed assignments. One new one came in, leaving two on the plate for Sunday.
I was unable to change my "primary care physician" from the doctor assigned to me by Blue Cross back to the one who knows me and my history, and I'm not quite sure why. Phone conversations are a waste of minutes. Web sites are of limited utility.
My current (and soon to be former) PCP is supposedly in the HMO that Blue Cross/Blue Shield put me in, but actually does not appear to be, because the BCBSTX site could not find my doctor. Or it could be that my doctor is in some other HMO run by Blue Cross (which raises the question: "If BCBSTX insists on moving me to an HMO, why not the one my doctor is in?"). I get the sneaking feeling that I've been dumped into the cheapest coverage the insurer could set up that would, at the same time, require me to find a complete new set of doctors.
But don't get me started.
Just to be on the safe side, I nailed down an appointment for Monday with the doctor that's been newly issued to me. Among other things, it ought to give me a good feel for the way the upcoming month will shape up, in terms of dealing with the HMO machinery.
Given the information I received from my agent, I will in all likelihood be back in a PPO come February 1, so at this point my main concerns are (a) how badly this coverage two-step will gore me financially and (b) will I have to postpone necessary therapy by a month to avoid it?
Cheers...
