The last of the soil mechanics went out the pipe at midday, in time for me to accompany Galina for a trip to the grocery store. Invoices went out, and among other things, I found out from Blue Cross that apparently, they hadn't even started evaluating my application for small business group coverage.
That changed during the course of the day, so now I need only provide some additional input before the underwriters can make their decision (which my agent says is a no-brainer). Meanwhile, I've instructed the new oncology place to proceed with getting me vetted for therapy using my HMO information, as BCBS indicates it may take up to 10 days for them to catch up with things and arrive at a decision (my agent called BS on that one, saying the language is CYA boilerplate). That's as may be, but I've got to budge off the dime, here, and so it goes...
I finally got good and sick and tired of Windows 8.x hanging for no reason during the work day (I mean, is switching windows a reason? It would suggest some kind of page-swap problem, perhaps, but I haven't the skill—even augmented by Natalie's tech support chops—to nail down the problem).
So... I finally bit the bullet and agreed to Microsoft's "suggestion" to upgrade to Windows 10. The process took 3 hours. I've turned off what snoopy stuff that I find, but I have not had the opportunity to spend a lot of time digging around and getting my elbows dirty. In the end, if the hangs continue, I guess it'll just be time to cross my fingers and get a new machine (running Windows 7, if I'm lucky enough to find such an animal).
Time to hit the rack. Big day tomorrow. I've got to get up early and make sure the missing documents are in my insurance agent's inbox bright and early in the morning.
I just hope my machine boots. :^)
Cheers...
