A disappointing Saturday...
Feb. 6th, 2016 09:56 pmI had such high hopes for productivity, but that sentence from yesterday—the one with the noun preceded by a "freight train" of adjectives?
That was the least of my worries.
I ran across several sentences today that, frankly, I (temporarily) gave up on because (I like to think) they were indecipherably turgid. (I returned to them later and did the best I could, but tomorrow's despeckle is going to be one for the record books, let me tell you.)
I distracted myself by pulling out, into the "main" part of my office, most of the junk—boxes, mostly—that had been littering the floor of my office closet for some time. (So, as you can imaging, now it's littering every available surface—floor and otherwise horizontal—of my office.
Galina and I took a break around noon to drive around a bit, which included a stop at one of Galina's favorite places—Tuesday Morning. I have to admit, there are some interesting items on sale in the store, particularly among the spices and condiments. Too bad I'm fasting this weekend.
Almost rack time. Time to wind down, maybe read a little Aurelius. Whereas I really like the translation by the brothers Hicks (published as The Emperor's Handbook back in 2002, I think I've found a new favorite translation of the Meditations in the translation by Gregory Hays.
Cheers...
