I've just spent the last 45 minutes or so trying to boot my work machine. Instead of throwing apparently random BSOD errors, I'm now getting a pretty consistent stream of errors associated with the code 0xc000021a.

I've tried some of the fixes that have been published, but if anything they've only made things... wait! Now, I'm looking at a login screen, so I log in.

A lot of people who've done software engineering have this quirk that involves doing things over and over again just one more time, as in my case here.

The system has come up. I shall have to finish immediate work items, and then make a backup of my disks.

Maybe not in that order, either.

And maybe add "get a new work machine" to the list, too.

Cheers...

An attempt to make a VHD image of the drive in my machine was unsuccessful. A try at Windows Backup died while attempting to make a system image.

Right now, I'm backing up my Documents folder and intend to have my D: drive (my "data" drive") back up while I'm at taiji.

Natalie has graciously offered me her laptop, but the cost of getting it here in an expeditious manner might rival the cost of going out and buying a new machine.

I've spent some time trying to do a translation—more precisely, a revision of a translation—on my Linux laptop using LibreOffice. The application opens up the Word file with no direct yelps, but the blessed thing has been reformatted slightly, to where doing the job this way seems a game not worth the candle.

Fortunately, I've found a one-liner that gives me information on all the apps I've ever installed on Montaigne, which is my machine's name. With any luck, I have copies of all the application installation files for the programs I use all the time.

I wonder if MemoQ runs on a Mac?

Cheers...
