A test..

The other day, Galina and I took the dogs to the Jardin del Mar beach for a pleasant walk.

I tried Snapchatting, which I'm apparently not terribly good at.

Yet.

It's hard to see from the image, but that dog back there is sort of a full-sized canine that would snap Thumper in two with very little effort, methinks. Thank Providence for leads.

Cheers...

UPDATE:

OOof! Okay, two problems right off the bat:
  • My Snapchat format is portrait, not landscape. Obviously, the rendering is trying to force the frame to fit the wrong size. I shall attempt to see what happens if I swap the vertical and horizontal values suggested in the HTML provided by LJ. (Nothing happens. I get the same squashed video.) Hmmm.
  • The video is, for some reason, reversed left-to-right. I see this in my Snapchat playback as well, as when someone is wearing a tee shirt for example (the "message" of the shirt appears reversed). Seeing reversed video here is, apparently, a brain fart on my part. The video, though squashed, is correctly oriented left-to-right. (And Snapchat video is reversed.)

I've likely been burning the candle a bit too long and mayhaps too intensely these past few days, for today, after getting a short piece done for my best client, I sort of flailed around, trying to get organized with new work that came in and long-term work that needs doing, eventually sitting down and doing the test that precedes this post (the one with the Snapchat video I took the other day), but in the end, I could not escape having to lie down and close my eyes.

Whereupon,... snick! And I open my eyes, and it's after five and I feel like I've been asleep, but not a good sleep, if you get my drift.

What is not attributable to going to bed late and getting up early is likely due to this regime that Galina has imposed on life inside the room I call my office, in which, a reflective, insulating shield goes up between the blind and the glass once the heat being radiated into the room by my window gets to a certain point.

This tactic may reduce the energy required to cool down the room—amd thus decrease our overall electric bill—but it also plunges the room into darkness, requiring me to work by artificial light, which makes it easy to think it's not late afternoon.

That said, what I've gotten done translation-wise today is not shabby. If it represented words in completed, despeckled documents, it'd actually be a little something to brag about. But I am awash in long-term stuff that is doing its best to discourage me (in terms of subject matter and terminology) and new work that must be OCRed into submission before I can grok it into English. That may have helped me get to where I am/was as well.

Feeling pretty refreshed, actually, but I fear it will be a late night.

    Cheers...
