Not quite the day I had planned...
Oct. 4th, 2016 10:20 pm...but close enough.
Taiji was quite informative this evening, with sifu doing a lot of hands-on of the art of "sticking," which is a delicate point between being too light and too heavy and several other factors that I grokked for something of the order of a few milliseconds before becoming submerged in that primordial soup known as my thinking process.
He topped off the session by showing how he could literally deal with an opponent with his eyes closed, because his body was able to "listen" to what said opponent was doing, and his training allowed him to react appropriately. (The opponent may have been said to be "telegraphing" his intended motion, but it seemed to me that sifu's ability to sense such motion was at least an order of magnitude more sensitive.
That said, when I tried to apply what I had seen to my push-hands drills with my usual partner, it seemed to me that, for a while, my performance improved.
In the translation end of the world, quite a bit of work showed up, and I got about 70% done of what I had hoped. Not bed, but nothing to crow about, either.
But I'll do better tomorrow. I will!
Cheers...
