In the red...
Dec. 21st, 2016 10:35 pmIt occurs to me that I owe a lot of people a lot of responses, both electronic and otherwise. I will be sure to start in on this tomorrow.
I completed another assignment, and got a strange call from the client whose assignment was running late, and then later, until I realized I could not, in good conscience, make promises beyond a fairly short horizon. I don't know whether they just like my translations (not improbable, but given the circumstances, unlikely) or simply can't find anyone else to take up the fallen torch (the terminology is a bit off-putting), but I agreed to translate what amounts to a page of the assignment per day for the next couple of weeks. I am a hopeless pushover in this regard.
It also occurred to me, late this afternoon, that in addition to his own accomplishments, John Glenn was the last surviving Mercury astronaut, which sort of added a strange kind of finality, for me, to the passing of that era.
I watched The Sea of Trees this evening, with Matthew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe, and Naomi Watts. It was a strange story, but one I could not turn away from. It is definitely not in the category of "light and cheerful" fare, that's for sure.
Time for rack drill...
