Catch-up...
Jul. 30th, 2017 10:34 pmI had every intention of getting more work done today, but it didn't work out. Instead, I started the morning by heading over to the Webster house with Galina to inspect the window installers' handiwork. The result looked good, though I could not help but think of the disproportionate cost of the new windows compared to the overall price of the house.
Too late now.
One thing I was reminded of on the way over there was a place called Mornings Colaches. As I turned toward the house yesterday morning, I could not help but notice a number of cars queued up at the place's drive-up window, so on impulse, I joined the line. When my turn came to order, I ordered a ham-and-swiss colache, a Hatch Chile colache (colaches being, basically, bread baked around some kind of filling... I think of it as a Central European version of dim sum, but I digress...) and a cup of coffee.
When I got to the house, I dug into the first colache and was surprised by just how bad the ham and swiss tasted. Then I sank my teeth into the second colache and suddenly realized that this was the ham and swiss (if I crossed my eyes and used my imagination) and that the previous colache was supposed to have been the Hatch chile pepper one!
Meanwhile, the coffee failed in just about every way that coffee could fail.
Bottom line—Ugh! Never again!
Upon returning from the Webster house, I went back to the paper chase, eventually joining Galina and Alla in their quest to get in some walking exercise, which around here (in the heat that makes it feel like over 100°F outside) means walking around a store with a lot of square footage—something like a Wal-Mart or Target. On the way home the gals let me off in front of the Barnes & Noble while they took off for the nearby World Market.
I picked up some valuable information about copywriting today—specifically, the part about breaking back into the business. If work does not pick up, I shall have to pursue this line of employment, I think.
It's getting late. I should hit the rack.
Cheers...
