I ran across a printout of a 4500-word article I wrote for BYTE back in 1993, on Optimization in C. What amazes me is that the article (my last serious computer article) was published almost a quarter century ago, and that I continue to get spammed by academia.edu, informing me that x people have downloaded the article over some period of time.

In other news of the unearthed, I ran across a short description of a baseball game I apparently attended back in 1999 and a copy of my work status report for the NASA contractor I worked for in 1999 (modeled on the status report format I had been introduced to at Borland back in the early 1990s). What struck me about the 1999 report was the detail of my reporting, which forced me to conclude that, in all likelihood, my boss at that NASA contractor never read my status reports. Heck, had a subordinate of mine sent me a status report like that, I would not have read it.

Realizations can strike at any time, I guess. :)

Cheers...
