Back Home, Day 1

One of the things that drove me nuts near the tail end of my recent hospital stay was never quite knowing when all the surgeons and doctors would agree to my release. Looking back on yesterday morning—when I felt the process was nearing its end but I hadn't yet been personally informed to pack my trash and arrange for a ride—it occurs to me that my concern is an excellent example of a so-called "first world problem."
I mean, there I was, apparently impatient to get back to the slings and arrows of a freelancer's life, or simply the grind of living, as exemplified by it taking Galina quite a while to retrieve the car from parking. Traffic from the hospital district toward home was absolutely crazy, and as it turned out, we'd have to stop by the pharmacy at our local Sam's Club and wait 45 minutes for all my new prescriptions to get filled.
And yet, as I stared out of the car window at all the craziness around me, I was moved to tears several times when the same thought thought intruded, reminding me just what a fortunate guy I am.
Today was spent in catch-up mode, which supplied me with riffs of "crazy good" (instead of just "crazy"), which I came to realize is something I need more of. Maybe it's something we all need more of.
I continue to be grateful for my life.
