Slow day, fast night...
Jan. 12th, 2002 09:32 pmIt was a slow day at the store. By 10:30 am, we'd cleared just $50 in sales; I don't know how much we did overall, but I'll bet it won't cover Drew's (and Shannon's) wages for the day.
Which is why I translate <grin>.
I've been at it for just about 6 hours, with a short break for dinner, and I've done 23 pages (of 32, with 17 pages in the other document). As I had an electronic original, I decided to use Déjà Vu, if for no other reason but to keep me from omitting stray sentences in the text (the original was written by someone who is font-happy, so it's kind of hard to read). The down side in using this tool is not being able to (or knowing how to) do a word count, so I don't know if I've worked a 2500-word day or a 5500-word day (or something in between).
I think I will work until a few minutes in front of 10 pm and then go upstairs to see if there's anything interesting on the tube. If I can do 4 more pages, that'll be great, as the material turns lightweight about that time, which would be a great start for me in the morning. (On the other hand, I can probably call it a night right now and polish off the rest of this document and the whole of the other one in another 6 hours or so tomorrow, when I'm fresh... do I look like I need convincing?)
Galina called us at the store around 1:30 pm or so. She was calling from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, where she invariably misses the turnoff for 287 south, headed toward Ennis and I-45, and instead motors on toward Waco. I guess she must have made it with no problem this time because she called about a half hour ago (it seems) to report that she made it to Pearland okay. She was pleased with the cleaning job I did before I left (I, frankly, had forgotten about it), and I was pleased to hear that the electricity is still on.
It takes so little...
Ah, well. Let me noodle a bit more, and then go on upstairs...
Cheers...
