OpenOffice does not appear to have any rudimentary macro recording capability, nor any capability in the Basic language to do things to cells, such as clear their contents.

Strange.

Fixing the calculation problem with the spreadsheet took about 5 minutes, once I tracked down the problem to one specific cell that was propagating its heartburn to a bunch of other cells.

Then having to work around not having a button or a checkbox on the page took maybe another hour. I now have the sheet set up so that improper input will trigger the display of an INVALID string next to the offending cell.

However, try as I might, I cannot think of any artifice that will allow a certain range of cells to be cleared upon, say, pressing the F3 key.

I may have to reeducate the store staff (Galina, Drew, and Lee, not to mention myself).

Way past bed time.

Cheers...

I use the Star OFfice spreadsheet, which I assume is just an earlier version of the Open Office one. I struggled to get it programmed, and now I'd hate to have to go back and try modifying it. On the other hand, my only other spreadsheet experience was SuperCalc ;)

Hey! I remember SuperCalc. It came with my Osborne 1.

The problem, as I see it, with the OpenOffice stuff is that it's almost impossible to figure out if what you're looking at is for OpenOffice or StarOffice. I found a nice page on a German site with a very clear and complete macro, but it doesn't work.

Cheers...
