Ooohhh... just when I was getting used to the now-almost-constant "cannot contact server" messages, I get hit with "error getting database lock" (or something along those lines). I sure hope LJ is healthy.

It's taken me just under 3 hours to finish the current job. If I do a workmanlike job of reviewing the translation, it should normally take just under 6 hours to review. However, the huge table in the thing will certainly cut down on that figure.

I was able to speed things up, I think, by concentrating on one column of the table at a time. That prevented me from allowing my attention to wander between entries that required thinking (e.g., "Step-by-step acceptance journal for testing of defective weld joint sections") and those that didn't (e.g., ditto marks).

In any event, I shall submit the job tomorrow, along with an invoice, and then turn my attention to pressing matters (e.g., issuing 1099s, filing state unemployment insurance, various other tax and accounting stuff).

I also need to sit down and finally send a letter to the Albanian kid I'm sponsoring.

Anyway... I'm going AFK for - hopefully - the rest of the evening.

Cheers...

The site will run less than optimally throughout different periods of the day, due to web traffic and database load.

Our new servers have arrived, and we will be installing them today, but the problem won't immediately cease as soon as the new servers are live. We're creating a new cluster, and we will be moving accounts on to it over the next few days. We expect the situation to improve as we move accounts and lighten up some of the database access bottleneck.

Thank you for your continuing patience."
