(sung to the "tune" of Who Let the Dogs Out?)

Sorry, but that "refrain" has been buzzing in my head intermittently since watching Men In Black 2. The film is not something to break your neck going to see, but I found it mildly entertaining (though if I ever see it again, it will be too soon).

Drew came over this morning to help repair the garage door, which slipped a couple of cables several weeks ago in the course of trying to close it, thereby making it pretty much impossible to open the door. Drew came up with the idea of levering the door up, which worked well. After about 20 minutes of huffing, puffing, and cursing, we got the cables back in place, though we're still missing a critical piece that keeps everything together.

I have this feeling that this is going to be the year the house gets a new garage door.

I had also wanted Drew to go get the materials necessary to build a crate for a set of antlers that is somewhat overdue for shipment to the client. One of the perennial problem with antlers is that they typically are too big to ship via UPS or FedEx ground, leaving freight transport as the only, and typically expensive option (on the order of $150 or so). However, when Drew came over, he said he didn't want to do store-related stuff on his one day off, and that we could do the crating tomorrow.

I had wanted to get the job done today, as the weather dweebs were promising snow this weekend and the mountains were starting to receive some of the white stuff, and I surely didn't want to have to do the job and truck stuff around in the snow, but decided that Drew was right. Anyway, if we get enough snow to prevent us from crating the antlers for another week, that'll be good, from the point of view of snow.

So Drew went home after we fixed the garage door.

Otherwise, I pretty much either rested or worked on the translation due tomorrow. The first pass is now complete, thanks to some repetitiveness in the text (albeit not the kind of boilerplate that supercharges your speed), and tomorrow, I will take the time to reformat the poor thing and review it before sending it in.

Not a bad couple-three days work.

Drew brought Huntur by around 3 pm, and I have to say she succeeded in tuckering me out rather quickly (recovery is going to be a long process). Around 5 or so, she started crying for "Mommy!" almost uncontrollably. After about a half hour of this, we called the kids, hoping that Shannon's voice would at least calm the kid down.

No dice.

The kids came by and picked up Huntur a little earlier than they had planned. Of course, by the time they arrived, Huntur was all smiles and stuff.

Time to go rest. It's been a stressful weekend.

Cheers...
