Aside from some haze (which some say is fire-induced), today was a really beautiful day here in Pagosa country. As usual, I spent the better part of the day either in the store (in the morning) or at home.

I found it very difficult to get started on the translations I have outstanding, so I killed some time making borshch. I must admit it's not as good as Galina's, but I notice that hand-chopping all of the fixings is worth the trouble. Last time Galina made soup, I processed the beets, carrots, etc. mechanically, and the result - while it tasted good - just didn't so much resemble soup as it did some fantastic vegetable-based gruel.

Assuming three days for my outstanding translations and a linear rate of translation, I should have done just under 2300 source words today. My spirit just wasn't in it today, so I stopped about a third of the way through, which turned out to be just over 2000 source words done. I figure that given my habit of usually exceeding my self-imposed quotas, an occasional day where I only do 87% of my quota is no big deal.

Man, I must be spending entirely too much time in front of this tube, because I am itching to get out of my office (or maybe it's the fact that I started reading Clive Cussler's Flood Tide, and really regret having had to put it down and go to work).

Gee, do you think...?

Cheers...
