Well, our foursome was augmented by one with the presence of Angelique B., another freelancer in town to do some work. We met at the Kemah branch of the Pappadeaux restaurant chain, where we were served by a waiter who is still learning the ropes. I had a cup of their seafood gumbo and the blackened catfish for the main course. It was all good, and the company merely made it better.

I had roughly two and a half hours to kill between the end of dinner and the start of my shift, so I decided to stop by the Barnes & Noble for a while before returning to the area of the space center. Instead, as I passed by the JSC main gate, I turned into space center and drove to my now-accustomed parking spot in the lot next to the MCC (there are, incredibly, a handful of unmarked parking spaces there, and these are empty at that time of night). I arrived at my work station early, and sat down to grab a little shuteye.

Although the seats we're equipped with recline well and the room was suitably dark, the effort wasn't worth the candle (or I wasn't tired enough), though I did eventually drift off.

Drifting off seemed to be what I did best today. I lay down after my afternoon post, determined to get some sleep, but my recollection was that I tossed and turned for the entire time I was in the sack, all the way to my 6:30 pm wakeup. (On the other hand, I also distinctly recall hitting the snooze button when the alarm went off... so was I actually asleep and only dreaming I was awake, or what?)

It's a slow night, space-to-ground wise, with just over three hours left (plus a handover).

(Yawn.)

Cheers...
