A little salt water, please, Sammy!
Aug. 24th, 2003 02:59 pmNatalie and I finally made it to the Gulf down around Freeport (if memory serves). At a beach called Quintana. Flat as a pancake and hard-surfaced, like Daytona Beach.
The water was dead flat. The only 'surf' was the result of jet-skiers passing by. The water was warm and shallow, with several underwater bars at intervals and running parallel to the beach, until about 100 yards from the shore, where I finally got to water barely deeper than my six-foot height. We didn't stay in the water long, but I can already tell I am sunburned. The distance, front door to shore, is about 55 miles.
Afterward, we stopped by the College Bookstore not far from the HCC. Natalie dropped about $200 for textbooks, and she's not finished yet (something about not yet having bought her French I text). Incredible prices. I cannot believe one cannot do better via, say, Amazon (UPDATE: No, it seems one cannot... looks like a racket, to me, but undoubtedly I'm the last to realize this).
Back from eveything around 2:45. I'm eating something, I call it "dinner" to be conventional. Bedtime is in 30 minutes.
I can feel a slight... something... going on in the skin on my face and back. 's gonna be an interesting sleep period, methinks.
Cheers...
